If you grew up in the 90s, you’ve probably fangirled over a boyband (or girlband) at some point. You hear a song off the radio and think it’s fairly decent, and then you realise you can’t get it out of your head. Soon you’re picking out your favourite member of the group; and before you know it, it becomes a full-blown obsession and you embrace the fandom as part of your identity.
While we’ve swapped boybands for fashion, the pattern is still very much the same. Such is our obsession with Steven Tai. Having graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2011, Steven got his start in fashion by working for Stella McCartney, where he was selected to participate in the prestigious Hyères festival by none other than Yohji Yamamoto. His participation earned him the prestigious Chloé award, a show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin ensued, and the rest as they say, is history.
Today, Steven heads his own label, steventai, which celebrates the awkward and quirky girl in all of us. His unique experimentation with fabric manipulation blends with refreshing new silhouettes, opting for loose fit, to create a harmonious symphony in the form of fun and refreshingly offbeat pieces that just can’t help but put a smile on our faces.
CUEVOLUTION is proud to announce that Steven Tai will be coming on board with us very soon with his SS16 collection! All of us at CUEVOLUTION embody every bit of the steventai ethos that fashion is fun and does not take itself too seriously, and as diehard fangirls, this is a match made in fashion heaven!
Be sure to keep on the look out for the collection on our site… if we don’t buy it all for ourselves first.
